Dr. Chulani serves as Chief of the Section of Adolescent Medicine at Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Medical Director of Phoenix Children’s Gender Support program. He is also Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Department of Child Health, University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix. Dr. Andrew Chung is a dual-fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon. He earned his osteopathic Degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his orthopedic internship at the University of Arizona – Phoenix. He then completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona. This was followed by a combined neurosurgical and orthopedic spine fellowship at the University of Southern California. Dr. Hanson is a Pain Psychologist at the Phoenix VA within the Chronic Pain Wellness Center and is the Pain Psychology Program Manager. Dr. Keane was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. In 1994, Dr. Keane moved to Arizona to pursue a career in writing. He instead was drawn into the field of education and policy, at first working at Arizona State University and receiving a master’s degree in higher education. Dr. Keane later served on the research staff for the Arizona State Senate and then briefly as a lobbyist for Arizona’s cities and towns. An interest in traditional Chinese medicine, nutrition and other health related activities eventually led him to leave public policy to attend medical school.

Shanna Parker is a national Survivor Leader and Subject Matter Expert in the field of Human Trafficking. She is the founder and CEO of AngelsGoToWork where she serves hundreds of youths and young adults yearly in local group homes, campuses and the community. She was the Public Relations Communications Chair for the National Survivor Network 2016-2019 and is the Executive Chair of the Arizona Survivor Leadership Council, a consultant for the Office of Victims of Crime Training and Technical Assistance Center where she assists with program building and specialized training. She sits on panels for multiple research projects with various agencies and universities.

Shanna works with several local and federal law enforcement agencies in various capacities including training, consultation, outreach, operations, and victim advocacy. Shanna assists the Arizona Financial Crimes Task Force with the Attorney General’s Office in sex trafficking cases. She also works for Southwest Network as the Anti-Human Trafficking Coordinator where she is a HT consultant for Clinical staff and works with DCS, JPO, BH staff and Placement facilities as specialized mentor and advocate for chronically trafficked youth with a high run-away rate.

Shanna developed the Parker HT Classification system to aid professionals in working collaboratively with victims in a trauma informed manner. Shanna has trained and works alongside supreme and superior court judges and justice staff, juvenile probation and detention, law enforcement, first responder, direct care providers, and social service professionals. Shanna works with multiple tribal agencies to develop responses to trafficking in rural and native lands.

She has developed a Human Trafficking 101 computer-based interactive training module as an employee of the Department of Economic Security for staff education. Her life skills classes are facilitated to at risk youth in local group homes and in 2015, she was honored to receive the H.O.P.E. Award and in 2019 was honored again with the Palidine Award for her work with youth in Arizona. Shanna is a TEDx speaker, she’s been featured in many news articles and has authored her story in book form, And He Called Me Angel, The story of a Human Trafficking Survivor.

Ms. Sutherland is the director of Training and Resources United to Stop Trafficking (TRUST), an Arizona Anti-Trafficking Network program that provides training, resources, and collaborative engagement to companies and organizations fighting against human trafficking. Dr. Neil Thakkar is Board-Certified in Anesthesiology and Interventional Pain Management. His desire to be a pain physician started prior to medical school, while caring for his mother, who was afflicted with pain. She suffered from acute post-surgical pain as well as chronic pain following neck surgery. He decided at that point that he wanted to dedicate his career to alleviating the pain of others.

After completing medical school training at Western University of Health Sciences, he completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Saint Louis University, followed by an advanced fellowship in Pain Management at the University of Cincinnati.

Although he enjoyed taking care of patients in critical situations, such as the operating room and intensive care units, he felt a closer connection to patients when treating chronic pain in the clinic setting.

Dr. Thakkar has been practicing in the Valley for 10 years. His training and experience allows him to offer a wide variety of modalities to offer his patients who suffer from acute and chronic pain conditions. He is able to manage even the most complex pain conditions.

He specializes in spinal pain disorders, reflex sympathetic dystrophy/complex regional pain syndrome, migraine headaches and knee pain. Patients will find that his knowledge base, skill level, and passion for helping others helps him provide the highest quality of pain management care.

Dr. Frank LoVecchio currently works as the Medical Director of Clinical Research at the College of Health Solutions at ASU. He also works as the Principal Investigator for the Infectious Disease Network (IDNet) studies, a group of Emergency Departments funded through the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to conduct Infectious Disease trials. These studies include MRSA, C-difficile, and cellulitis. He has served as Vice-Chair and Director of Research for the MIHS and University of Arizona Department of Emergency Medicine and has been an emergency medicine physician, medical toxicologist, and an addiction specialist for over 2 decades. He is board-certified in Addiction Medicine, Medical Toxicology, Medical Forensics and Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Lovecchio has extensive experience practically and clinically relating to emergency medicine and medical toxicology.  He has received greater than a dozen research and teaching awards.

Lovecchio is the author of more than 200 peer review articles and has given lectures in over 20 countries. 

Dr. Lovecchio has organized and participated in multiple international medical missions and has been honored locally and nationally as a Health Care Hero.

Dr. LoVecchio is also a site investigator on seven NIH grants awarded through the Emergency Medicine Network (EMNet), including grants for work on Influenza screening. Dr. LoVecchio is experienced in the conduct of research protocols in the emergency department. Currently, Dr. LoVecchio is performing research about drug development, drugs of abuse, COVID-19, infectious diseases, and environmental illness.

Dr. Lovecchio discloses that he has received grants from the NIH to study sepsis and MRSA. He is on the Speakers’ Bureau for Abbvie.
